El Cocinero getting a new home

by Tallahassee Table

In case you missed it, El Cocinero Tacos and Tequila will be moving from Tennessee Street to a new location in summer 2020.

Chances are you’ve probably passed the restaurant’s future home at 1303 Thomasville Rd., part of the new construction at the corner of Sixth Avenue, across from SōDOUGH Baking Co.

El Cocinero will be located in the stand-alone building that’s adjacent to an office building under construction. Jesse Edmunds, owner of El Cocinero, Liberty Bar and Restaurant, The Hawthorn Bistro & Bakery and Bar 1903 will be totally remodeled with a wrap-around deck outside. You can get an idea from the banner posted on an outside fence (shown here, in the right-hand corner).

Despite the changes, Edmunds said the menu will continue to focus on tacos and tequilas.
With its layout, “the current building doesn’t work for us,” said Edmunds. “We’re sparing no expense,” on the new building, he said, noting that the cost will run a few hundred thousand aside from the landlord’s expenses.

“It’s going to be stunning,” said Edmunds. “We’re lucky and humbled to be a part of it.”
