No, the Market Square destination can’t compare with the French Quarter, but this setting has plenty of charm – and delicious, Big Easy-inspired beignets. Pair with chicory-spiked coffee, espresso specialties and dessert cocktails.
Coffee lovers are celebrating this weekend. The si Coffee lovers are celebrating this weekend. The sixth location of Lucky Goat Coffee is now open in the former home of Vertigo Burgers, 1395 E. Lafayette St. in Indianhead. Contact: 850-999-2784. Employees have been giving away free 11-ounce cans of the coffee company’s Lucky Goat Cold Brew Coffee, “Cold Gold,” as part of the shop’s opening promotion. I missed the sock giveaway on 7/27 but an employee told me they gave away over 200 socks to customers. The new location is bright and shiny new – and the honey lavender latte was terrific, as usual. Hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays. Lucky Goat’s other locations are in Bannerman Crossings, Midtown, on Capital Circle, the Market District and South Adams Street.

If you’re stumped finding a place to take dad fo If you’re stumped finding a place to take dad for Father’s Day, head over to this gem, VeneBites, at 217 E. Third Ave. Chef/co-owner Abraham Quintera is serving his home-cooked paella and pasticho and a special dish he will debut today. We were here twice this weekend and loved all our dishes – the arepas are terrific (pictured here is the Arepa Cochino Frito, stuffed with pork dumplings, cole slaw, sliced avocado and cheddar cheese). They also serve quesadillas, tequenos and several platters. Stop by until 3 p.m. on Father’s Day or come back Wednesdays through Sundays.

Insurance is only covering damage to the building, A/C units, plumbing, electrical, etc. This does not include their farm and gardens, their signature feature in being a Farm and Table restaurant, and employee salaries. From April 16-30, Browns Kitchen is "rallying support by inviting customers to bring their knives in for sharpening, with a $5 donation per knife. Every sharpened blade symbolizes solidarity and tangible help in their journey to rebuild and support their community. Your participation will make a real difference in their recovery efforts. " 100 percent of donations will go straight to Backwards Crossing's rebuilding effort. Browns Kitchen is at 2551 Capital Circle NE. My husband and I recently dined at Food Glorious F My husband and I recently dined at Food Glorious Food, a hip spot with lots of lovely art, which has been open more than 30 years. Instead of getting an entree, we shared small plates of fried oysters (photos clockwise), gnocchi in a rich blue cheese sauce, potato leek soup with crab meat, escargot and jumbo shrimp stuffed with crab meat. We were so full, we skipped dessert but it’s a must for our next visit. Bon Appetit!

Emergency veterinarian, Dr. Jesus Lamas, launched the restaurant with culinary help from his cousins, who cook the terrific street food you’ll find here. Grab a knife and fork to dig into the LaGran Venezuela burger, an excellent beef patty topped with a boneless pork chop, a slab of chicken, tomatoes, corn kernels, lettuce, condiments and garlic sauce plus a kebab with steak and chicken,  served with well-seasoned fries. I’d also recommend their flavorful chicken sandwich or hot dog combos. Look for music and specials on Saturday nights.
