If you’re a fan of farmers markets, you’ll want to make a trip to Orchard Pond Organics, which has opened a permanent farm stand, a one-stop shop for produce, eggs, meats, cheese and all kinds of other items, mostly local.
Orchard Pond is an organic farm owned by Mary Phipps, who opened the market on May 15.
We were delighted to find so many wonderful products in this cozy nook, from organic wine to juicy watermelons. From Organic Pond you’ll find grass-fed beef, cucumbers, okra, zucchi, muscadine grapes and arugula along with specialty items like homemade granola, honey, pesto and smokey carrot hummus.
The Orchard Pond stand also offers so many other products, including Play of Sunlight mushrooms, breads from Hawthorn Bistro & Bakery, Pro Seasoning from chef Nikki Pettineo, juices from Tally Kombucha, sauces from El Cocinero, coffee from RedEye Coffee and ice cream from Southern Craft Creamery — just to name a few.
Also check out fun kitchen items, seeds and wood boards.
We loaded up on mushrooms, carrots, watermelon (we’ve heard raves from Alix Kalfin) and coffee ice cream (which is like a refreshing cup of iced brew). We just bought a few items from the Red Hills Online Market, including Hawthorn’s milk bread and farm eggs, but we’ll be back for more.
Orchard Pond sales manager Katie Reeves said the market expects to be offering plants and later games and other items outside.
