Here’s a guide to some of the best sources for pumpkin patches and fall fun

Along with these rotund winter squashes, you may also find corn mazes, pig races and story time for the littles. Tallahassee has pumpkin patches aplenty so you can get in the spirit of Halloween right now.

“We have U-Pick zinnias and sunflowers and pumpkins,” said Ryan Bass, owner of Moccasin Grove Farm, which is presenting its pumpkin patch, with corn mazes, flowers and story time at the Tallahassee farm every weekend. “We have eight varieties of pumpkins.”

Spring Hill Tree Farm, just south of Bainbridge, Ga., is another desirable destination for a seasonal celebration, with a pumpkin patch, pig races, axe throwing and other activities.

Here’s a more detailed list about pumpkin patches in our region:

This is such a cute photo I’m sharing it again. Navigate the corn maze at Moccasin Grove, a family farm owned by Ryan and Lizz Bass, here with their children, son Grady, and triplets Jordyn, Peyton and Hadley at their last pumpkin patch in 2024. Photo provided by Moccasin Grove

* Moccasin Grove The farm is a family operation run by Ryan Bass, owner of Moccasin Grove with wife Lizz, parents of a 3-year-old son and triplet girls, 17 months old. Along with U-Pick pumpkins, zinnias and sunflowers (go soon if you want to get those), they’ll have pumpkin treats, popcorn, peach sherbet, lemonade and cider. There’s also a corn maze and a corn pit. While there, visitors can see crops planted in the back of the farm, including tomatoes, okra and bell peppers. Moccasin Grove is also known for its U-Pick strawberries and peaches.
