About Tallahassee Table

Breaking bread together is one of our most social human activities, and I’m convinced that food is the key to knowing a place and its people.

Here in Tallahassee and the surrounding area, we may not have, in sheer numbers, the dining choices some other locales have, but there’s a very vibrant — and growing — food culture here, and an abundance of knowledgeable foodies.

I hope you’ll help me, and you, grow with it. I welcome your comments and suggestions.

Add a little sweetness to your life at the new bak Add a little sweetness to your life at the new bakery,  Decadent Delights on Apalachee Parkway. We devoured red velvet, cookies and cream and vanilla cupcakes along with deliciously rich chocolate brownies. Owner Arkeba Bouie also creates three-layer cakes in this cozy spot. My husband and I just feasted on Greek and Medite My husband and I just feasted on Greek and Mediterranean fare at the new, local Yasou Cafe in Southwood, owned by George Maximos. We loved their lemony avgoleono soup, beef and lamb Grace burger smothered with tzatziki sauce, chicken shawarma plate, fantastic fries (whether you get them plain, with cheese or topped with meat), and baklava. Looking forward to our next trip! 🇬🇷🥙
I’ve been craving traditional Hanukkah dishes so I’ve been craving traditional Hanukkah dishes so I’m happy we now have a kosher restaurant in Tallahassee, Cafe Yerushalmi, on Lake Bradford Road. Owner/chef Magi Mekaiess, originally from Jerusalem, prepares authentic dishes like potato latkes, sufganiyah (the holiday treat of round jelly doughnuts), falafels, bourekas (baked pastries with fillings), hummus, beef kebabs and skakshuka (eggs poached in a tomato sauce). It’s a delicious stop all year long! ⭐️ 🕎

Brunswick stew is a heart-warming and belly-fillin Brunswick stew is a heart-warming and belly-filling dish on a winter’s day (even if it’s 75 degrees). I ordered this stew from the Red Hills Small Farm Alliance online market (ordering starts Sunday morning) and it’s made by Jessica Bright McMullin, owner of KitchenAble Cooking School and Catering at Lake Ella. It’s chock full of chicken, smoked pork belly, baby Lima beans, sweet corn, onions, tomatoes, herbs and spices and gluten-free. So good! 🥣 🥣

The new Kami Poke & Korean Restaurant has such a l The new Kami Poke & Korean Restaurant has such a long and tempting menu. We picked the spicy tuna and salmon combo poke bowl that was packed with chopped raw fish, crab salad, sliced avocados, edamame beans, shiitake mushrooms, corn and other veggies with a garnish of roasted seaweed all tossed in a perky chili sauce -- filling and refreshing! We also liked their beef bulgogi with white rice and their twist on crispy scallion pancakes. Looking forward to trying more of these tempting dishes... 🍣 🍲
The Original Bagel Bagel has been around for 30 ye The Original Bagel Bagel has been around for 30 years but we only just discovered the local Tallahassee breakfast and lunch spot. We ordered the Reuben, packed with corned beef and sauerkraut; the egg, ham and cheese sandwich on a bagel (open-face style and cooked in a 1,200-degree oven so it has those nice toasty spots); and the Bloomin’ Beef sandwich — and it was all really good. Whether you want a bagel and a schmear, a salad or a sandwich, give The Original Bagel Bagel a try! 🥯 🥪
